I spent a semester in England and took a course on Eliot and Auden…have to say, I preferred Auden overall! “Let the more loving one be me…” that image is rather haunting…
Another poet friend posted this prior to NPM. She is all things poetry. Can you direct me to the Auden poem? I had a collection but it sat so long I finally traded it. Crap! This is why I normally do not give up my poetry collections.
Anyhoo, congratulations, you’re my Little Lov’n Monday for last week. Come and choose your prize.
THE BOTTOM OF HEAVEN is a transcendent place in black American culture and thought, much like the blues, where ingenuity meets the absurd. Our blog borrows the phrase from the novel, Sula, by Toni Morrison. Learn more about us here and thanks for visiting!

Hey Susan: Yay, I won a prize! Here’s a link to the Auden poem, “The More Loving One” that Zetta mentioned. And I even found audio!
