So it’s day two of my presidential politics-free week and I’m feeling a bit disconnected. Did something important happen yesterday? Did Palin flub another interview? Did Biden finally clock McCain in the jaw?
Tuesday, 7:23 PM: I officially regret making this ridiculous fast public. This is stupid!
Tuesday, 1:20 PM: I can’t believe how productive I’ve been this morning! It feels weird not checking the political blogs for updates every five minutes. Somewhere out there, somebody’s dissecting the latest McCain attack ad and I’m feeling left out!
Tuesday, 9:35 AM: With an election this important, it makes sense that the news would be at the forefront of every American’s mind. But this experiment has made me realize just how much presidential politics have saturated every aspect of the U.S. media with the informational equivalent of empty calories. This morning it was a struggle, but I cut out “Morning Edition” (NPR), The New York Times, and the political banter on Tom Joyner’s show. I wonder if I really missed anything.

Claudia, hold fast! You’ve inspired me to hold a Palinout of my own. It lasted for ten minutes.
Seriously–you’re not missing anything. The die is set, y’all. It’s all about execution now. Well, okay, there is that whole “William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who John McCain has named to head his presidential transition team, aided an influence effort on behalf of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to ease international sanctions against his regime.”
But really, does that change yr mind on anything?
